Red Light, Green Light: Contract Meteorology

It’s a strange thing, but most people don’t do heat maps of their contracts.

What’s a heat map? It’s when you review the clauses and phrases in your contracts to work out which ones cause the most friction and take up the most time.

Sometimes it’s the substance of what your contract is saying, sometimes it’s just the way you are saying it, but if you want your contracts to go through as smoothly and friction-free as possible (who doesn’t?) a heat map is the place to start.

Most people treat contract friction like bad weather - something to complain about but impossible to change - whereas a heat map gives you the meteorology to fix it.
